welcome to the orkney clay pigeon club history

History of Club
The Orkney Clay Pigeon Club (OCPC) was formed in 1985 through the amalgamation of the Ness Gun Club and the Kirkwall Clay Target Club. These two established clubs formed the only recognised official club in Orkney participating in clay target shooting.

Annual Inter County competitions take place between Orkney and Shetland and have done so since the new OCPC was formed.

In 1990 the OCPC entered into a 21 year lease of a site belonging to Orkney Auction Mart and constructed a shooting range at Hatston with the aid of grant assistance from Highlands & Islands Development Board. At the Hatston site the disciplines available were Down The Line (DTL), Automatic Ball Trap (ABT) and all forms of Skeet.

This 21 year lease expired in May 2011.  OCPC was granted an extension from our new landlord, Orkney Islands Council, until the new shooting range in Orphir is completed.

Work began on the site works of our new shooting range at Ramsdale in Orphir on 8th March 2013 and it is hoped our first shoot will commence in May followed by the development of a clubhouse later in the year.
